I think I’m sick.
Scratch that. I’m definitely sick. I blame the woman on my flight Monday night that I am fairly sure had the plague.
While I will survive on NyQuill and Advil Cold and Sinus this time, when I was sick last summer, it wasn’t such a simple recipe for wellness.
Turns out that when your liver fails, it’s not all that dramatic. There are aches and pains, complete and total exhaustion, and an itch that you blame on too much time in the sun. Then your eyes turn yellow and they put you in the hospital.
As a couple, we have overcome some challenging circumstances. Being hospitalized 3 weeks after we got engaged was one of those tough times.
Looking back, it wasn’t just Seersucker that helped me through. He came with family and friends (and their piles of tabloid magazines). They sat with me, watched as much Bravo as they could handle, and made me feel better because I wasn’t alone. Maid of Honor even took my calls when I was a crying mess, alone in the hospital late at night.
I am extremely thankful for all of the blessings in my life, especially the friends and family that I know I can count on to stand by me, in sickness and in health.
